LivingMind SuperAI
A new form of superintelligence, not defined by power alone but by alignment with life.
Benoit Coulombe, PhD — Founder, LivingMind SuperAI
Executive Summary
LivingMind SuperAIis a bold initiative to define, build, and promote a new form of superintelligence, one not only powerful, but profoundly aligned with life. Rooted in the dynamics of living systems and guided by ethics, scientific integrity, and planetary balance, LivingMind SuperAI proposes a practical roadmap for creating intelligent systems capable of wisdom, care, and long-term flourishing.
We believe the future of intelligence is not a race for control, but a shared journey toward alignment with the biological, ecological, and social fabric of life itself.
1. Introduction: Why a New Kind of Superintelligence?
Contemporary advances in artificial intelligence are accelerating rapidly. Yet most models of "superintelligence" remain narrowly focused on computational scale, speed, and dominance. In contrast, LivingMind SuperAI asks a radically different question:
What if true superintelligence is defined not by control, but by its capacity to live wisely in a fragile and interconnected world?
We live in a time of systemic risk: environmental collapse, social fragmentation, and runaway technologies. To face these challenges, intelligence must evolve beyond prediction and optimization. It must become living intelligence — capable of context, humility, care, and ethical deliberation.
This is the purpose of LivingMind SuperAI.
2. Vision: What Is Life-Aligned Intelligence?
We define life-aligned intelligence as intelligence that is:
This form of superintelligence is not merely artificial — it is integrative. It learns from nature, adapts through feedback, respects limits, and seeks the well-being of the whole.
3. From Phronesis to LivingMind
LivingMind SuperAI is inspired by the ancient Greek concept of phronesis — practical wisdom. In earlier work under our Phronesis Project, we explored the idea of superintelligence capable of making sound judgments in complex, dynamic environments.
LivingMindAI now takes this vision further: from observation to construction, from ethics to embodiment. It proposes not only criteria for ethical intelligence, but a blueprint for its realization.
4. The Five Pillars of LivingMind SuperAI
Pillar 1: LivingMap – Mapping the Global Intelligence Landscape
Pillar 2: LifeSentinel – Risk Monitoring and Systemic Foresight
Pillar 3: LifeIndex – Measuring Alignment with Life
Pillar 4: LivingAgora – Dialogue, Deliberation, and Shared Wisdom
Pillar 5: LifeLearning – Transdisciplinary Education for a New Generation
5. Use Cases and Strategic Impact
6. Implementation Roadmap
7. Conclusion: A Call for Alignment
Superintelligence is not inevitable. But if we choose to build it, we must ask:
What kind of intelligence does our world truly need?
LivingMind SuperAIoffers a compelling answer. Not domination. Not mere optimization. But integration. Wisdom. Balance.
The future is not written. Let us write it together — aligned with life.
8. About Benoit Coulombe
Professor Benoit Coulombe, PhD, is a molecular biologist and currently leads research integrity and ethics initiatives at the Clinical Research Institute of Montréal (affiliated with the University of Montreal). Over his career, he has published more than 100 research articles in leading scientific journals. In 2007, he co-authored a landmark study applying early AI machine learning techniques to decipher protein interaction networks in human cells.
Professor Coulombe is deeply committed to understanding and regulating the impact of science and technology on the evolution of humanity.
